History

The Department of Political Science and Public Administration was established within the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences, which was decided to be established with the “Law on the Amendment of the Higher Education Law and Some Laws and Decrees” published in the Official Gazette dated May 18, 2018 and numbered 30425.

The Department of Political Science and Public Administration, located in the Canik Campus of Samsun University and one of the first departments of Samsun University, accepted its first students in the 2019-2020 academic year with a quota of 50 students. After a one-year period, our department opened the Public Administration Master’s Program in the 2020-2021 academic year and started to train students at the graduate level. In 2023, our department has opened doctoral program and first student recruitment was made in this year.

The Department of Political Science and Public Administration, which has a strong staff in the departments of Political History, Political and Social Sciences, and Management Sciences, with 1 professor, 3 associate professors and 3 doctoral faculty members, also stands out as a young and dynamic department with 2 research assistants.
